JOHANNESBURG - The uMkhonto weSizwe Party has downplayed national leadership squabbles, labelling them teething issues of any"revolutionary movement".
The party's leader, Jacob Zuma, is in an ongoing conflict with expelled co-founder, Jabulani Khumalo.Khumalo was dismissed by the party in April, along with four other members, for allegedly colluding with the African National Congress .MK Party member, Andile Mngxitama, said this was always expected.
“All revolutionary movements are confronted with the challenge of counter-revolution and the ructions inside uMkhonto weSizwe now is an attempt by our political enemies to try to weaken the big momentum uMkhonto weSizwe is coming with.” MK Party parliamentary candidate, Visvin Reddy, said the axing of its co-founder was a sign of strong leadership.
"We removed people because we found they were colluding with the enemies to destabilise the party and the quicker they were removed, the better. Now if you translate that into a pattern that we will take into government, then ministers who are not performing, you will not see them sitting in government like what is happening currently."
