Gulf War illness caused by mitochondrialdysfunction, not inflammation ucsandiego SciReports

at the UCSD Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute with a nurse experienced in assisting in the biopsy procedure. A single muscle biopsy was performed for each participant, and all mitochondrial assessments were conducted on the resulting sample. No more than one biopsy was performed on a given day.
