Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell fell Tuesday amid the Senate Republican lunch Tuesday afternoon, according to reports.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell fell and sprained his wrist after the Senate Republican lunch at the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday afternoon, according to a spokesperson from his office.While McConnell did not attend a planned news conference following the event, the spokesperson said he “has been cleared to resume his schedule.”He was hospitalized with a concussion in March 2023 and missed several weeks of work after previously falling in a downtown hotel.
McConnell, who is is the longest-serving leader of the Senate Republican conference, as he has been in the Senate since 1984, announced in February he will be stepping down from his leadership post at the end of the year. "To serve Kentucky in the Senate has been the honor of my life. To lead my Republican colleagues has been the highest privilege. But, one of life’s most under appreciated talents is to know when it’s time to move on to life’s next chapter," McConnell said earlier this year.
