According to a new study, a new sticky sensor has been developed that is capable of sending sound waves through the skin and into the body. These waves reflect off internal organs and return to the sticker. A refinement on an, the new sticker can then measure and track the pattern of reflected waves, which can be read as a signature of organ rigidity., professor of mechanical engineering at MIT.

Following these promising results, the MIT team collaborates with clinicians to modify the sticker for ICU patients recovering from organ transplants. They do not expect to change the sticker's current design significantly, as it can be attached to the patient's skin.
