One officer dead, another shot in Missouri as search continues for armed suspect
The Missouri State Highway Patrol believes that the suspect, 35-year-old Kenneth Lee Simpson, is"possibly in a home on MO 19 in Hermann."In a Monday tweet, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F added that"a perimeter was established around the residence. The Patrol is working to establish contact with the suspect and using additional tactical resources to resolve the situation.
Hours after sending out a blue alert on Sunday evening, the MSHP revealed in the early hours of Monday morning that one of the shot officers had succumbed to his injuries. Blue alerts are used in the state to quickly inform the public about"violent offenders who have killed, seriously injured, or pose an imminent and credible threat to law enforcement." At the request of the Hermann PD, Troop F DDCC has been requested to investigate the shooting of two Hermann officers this evening. Troop F will also handle all media inquiries.
