A month after suspending city manager Charles 'Tink' Jackson, the city council of Missouri City on Tuesday voted unanimously to terminate him amid allegations of unethical conduct.

In a unanimous vote on Tuesday, Nov. 30, Missouri City City Council appointed Charles Jackson as the new city manager.Missouri City leaders on Tuesday voted unanimously to terminate a top administrator in the wake of allegations that he acted unprofessionally and unethically in hiring staff.

City Council members “have my statements in response to the claims that were made against me,” Jackson added. “I’m not going to make any other comments.” As the two corresponded, Jackson said he planned to conduct a complete reorganization of the city government and told her which positions he planned to eliminate, according to the complainant’s letter, which included screenshots of text messages.Jackson claimed to have fired one longtime employee whom he said tried to “sabotage” him, according to screenshots of text messages.

The woman said she did not ask for the questions and thought about declining them, but “assumed he wanted to hire me to the deputy city manager position so bad that he was willing to bend the rules to tip the scales in my favor in the hiring process.”
