The body of a 67-year-old Ivins man was discovered Sunday at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park after he went missing days earlier. Kane County Sheriff’s deputies received a report of an overdue visitor at the state park just before noon on April 13.
The man, identified as Neal Mower, had reportedly purchased a one-day park pass around 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, but never returned home. Deputies said other park visitors noticed Mower’s vehicle had been parked in the same spot for several days, though no one had seen him. Authorities searched Mower’s vehicle but found nothing unusual. Deputies also spoke with nearby recreationists, none of whom had any information regarding Mower’s whereabouts. The Ivins Police Department assisted in checking Mower’s residence to contact family, friends, or neighbors who might have had information. Kane County dispatchers also coordinated with Mower’s phone provider to analyze his data history and location. Kane County Search and Rescue teams were deployed to the area along with a Utah Department of Transportation helicopter out of St. George. Crews searched until dark and resumed efforts the following morning.Medical examiners processed the scene, and Mower’s remains were turned over to Mosdell Mortuary in Kanab for transport to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office in Salt Lake City.------------------------------------
