Missing Utah girl found in California, allegedly transported across state lines by teen boy's mother
TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — The Tooele County Sheriff's Department says they have found a 12-year-old girl who went missing Thursday.
Divina Martinez was last seen by a family member at her home in Stansbury Park near Old Mill Elementary early Thursday morning. On Friday night, her family told FOX 13 News that she was found, and that she had met a 15-year-old California boy on a social media app and made plans to meet up. The boy's mom drove to Utah, picked Martinez up, then drove back to Ceres, California with her. A sheriff's office spokesperson later confirmed these details.Local police are now working with California law enforcement to determine what charges the mother may face.
As of Friday night, Martinez was still in juvenile detention in California. Her family said she is OK and they are working to get her home as soon as possible.
