Two minor sisters, previously missing after an alleged abduction by a 19-year-old man they met online, have been safely recovered. The incident highlights the dangers of online grooming and the importance of parental vigilance on social media and gaming platforms.

On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, authorities announced the successful recovery of two previously missing minor siblings, both girls, who were allegedly abducted by a 19-year-old man. The incident underscores the ongoing concerns surrounding online grooming and the potential dangers children face on social media and gaming platforms. The girls, aged 12 and 15, were located by the Georgia State Highway Patrol after law enforcement intercepted a vehicle connected to the suspect.

The suspect, identified as Hser Mu Lah Say, an American citizen from Omaha, Nebraska, has been charged with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of interference with child custody. He is currently being held in a Georgia jail. Officials have confirmed that the girls appear to be physically unharmed, offering a measure of relief in a situation that could have had a far more tragic outcome. The swift action of law enforcement and the cooperative efforts of the family played a crucial role in the girls' safe return.\The investigation revealed that the girls' interaction with the suspect began on the online gaming platform Roblox, eventually migrating to Snapchat. According to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek, the family had previously expressed concerns about the suspect, having identified him on Snapchat during the summer of 2025. The family noticed suspicious activity, including gifts being delivered to the girls' home, primarily food items. Sheriff Budensiek described this as a grooming process, alleging the suspect was manipulating the girls over time. The girls had their cellular devices taken away on Saturday as a punishment before they left to meet the suspect. After the girls went missing early Saturday evening, their family alerted authorities, leading to a rapid investigation. Deputies discovered a consistent thread of communication between the girls and the suspect on their devices, including evidence of the suspect driving to Indiantown, Florida, to pick them up. Authorities determined that, despite the girls going willingly, their ages suggested an abduction was occurring as they were being removed from the area. The suspect reportedly traveled from Omaha, Nebraska, on Friday morning, arriving in Indiantown, Florida, on Saturday morning. The sheriff emphasized the importance of parental vigilance and the need to be aware of the risks associated with online communication.\Following the discovery of the missing siblings, the Martin County Sheriff's Office issued an urgent plea for information, highlighting the girls' last known whereabouts and including a description and photo of the suspect. An AMBER Alert was being processed as detectives worked urgently to find them. Sheriff Budensiek reiterated concerns about the inherent risks on many online platforms, particularly the ease with which individuals can connect with children away from parental supervision. He stated, 'There is no application online that's safe. If you can communicate with somebody away from your house in the quiet of your own room, it can be a problem. So parents have to be vigilant.' Roblox's chief safety officer, Matt Kaufman, responded to the incident with a statement affirming the company's commitment to user safety. He stated that Roblox is investigating the incident and will fully support law enforcement. Kaufman noted that the platform has robust safety policies, including filters to block the sharing of personal information, no user-to-user image or video sharing, and age checks to limit communication between users of different ages. Snapchat has also been contacted for comment. The suspect's legal representation remains unconfirmed at this time. The case highlights the importance of education for children on online safety and parental awareness of their children's online activities
