According to the Coast Guard, the plane, a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan owned by Bering Air, was carrying 10 people and was reported missing on Thursday after taking off from Unalakleet en route to Nome. The wreckage was discovered approximately 34 miles southeast of Nome. Three individuals were found deceased inside the aircraft.
The Coast Guard stated that the search for the remaining seven individuals is ongoing. The plane's tail number, visible in a photograph released by the Coast Guard, appears to correspond with the number provided by authorities when the aircraft was initially reported missing.
