LANSING, Michigan — A woman who says she found a 5-year-old boy in a street in the middle of the night has been arrested after she reportedly took the child to the attic of her home and failed to call police.Teresa Wolansky, 48, of Lansing, is charged with unlawful imprisonment. She was ordered held in jail on a $5,000 bond after appearing in court Tuesday.
Camden David-James Johnson was reported missing Monday night after he apparently got of bed and slipped out of his house,. Police searched the home and the surrounding area but could not find Camden, who has autism and is nonverbal. Police were called a few hours later when Wolansky’s boyfriend, who owns the home in which she lives, discovered the boy,. “The caller said he believed the accused was going to call the police to report the found child, but as hours passed, the caller decided he would call the police himself without informing the accused,” a news release says, according to the State Journal.
Wolansky reportedly told police she found the boy at about 3:30 a.m. Monday and took him to her attic to warm up. Police reportedly found Wolansky and the boy in the attic, along with drugs and a firearm.
