Hayes got lost on Mingus Mountain on Friday and he was found five days later.
says he was found in a very rugged area that was not easy for searchers to get to but they found a way on Wednesday. When searchers finally located Hayes, they found Hayes’ dog, Ranger, who went with him on the hike. Ranger was alive and stayed with Hayes.says a volunteer checked him out in the area before they got him to a veterinarian for treatment.
“I thank all the volunteer search and rescue teams and others who gave of their time for six days to locate the victim and bring him home. Our searchers utilized every tool at their disposal to find Mr. Hayes and never gave up,” said
