A Bernese Mountain Dog named Charlie was found missing in Illinois and thanks to a local pet rescue and thermal imaging drone, was reunited with his owner.
A dog in Illinois who had been missing for a week was found on Sunday thanks to a local pet rescue organization and a thermal imaging drone. The ordeal started on December 31, when a Bernese Mountain Dog named Charlie went missing in the Crystal Lake area. Charlie’s owner Kate Belmonte posted messages to Facebook about Charlie, asking for help in finding him. Belmonte got help from Dog Gone Pet Recovery, who enlisted Smithic Air for drone support.
The drone had thermal imaging that allows you to spot warm objects on the ground, and on January 5th, Charlie was spotted. They believe he was hit by a car and was unable to walk due to a broken femur. Charlie was found just a few minutes away from his home.
