A missing 16-year-old boy may be trying to walk nearly 300 miles to see his girlfriend after trains were cancelled as part ofOwen Harding left his family home in Saltdean, near Brighton in East Sussex, on March 26 after telling his mum, Stella, he was going out to look at the sunset.
He has not been seen since, and friends believe he might have attempted to complete the 280-mile trip to girlfriend Meg Rhodes’ home in Pocklington, near York, on foot. His heartbroken mum, who is holding a vigil in the front garden as a symbol of hope, said: ‘I’m sitting by the fire every day and using all the resources within me to help cope with Owen not being here.‘This is so out of character for him.‘He had given me a really sweet Mother’s Day card and we are all desperately worried for him.’
