The Washington County Sheriff's Office said 19-year-old Nicole Bennett was first reported missing just before midnight on Jan. 13. Shortly after, her vehicle was found at a trailhead in the Red Cliffs Recreation Area just north of St. George. Search and Rescue operations started immediately with the help of air support, including drones and a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter. The Washington County Sheriff's Office said the search continued until about 4:30 a.m., when it paused due to lighting conditions and the extent of the search area.Just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday, the Washington County dispatch center received a call stating Nicole Bennett's body had been found. "This is an active investigation with deputies and investigators currently on scene at the time of this release," the Washington County Sheriff's Office said in a Wednesday morning statement. "We ask that the public stay clear of the area if emergency responders are still around to allow them to work."
