Miss Universe Philippines (MUPh) has announced a significant shift in the pageant world by welcoming contestants of any age, thanks to the lifting of age limits by the Miss Universe Organization (MUO).
"This progressive change signifies a new era for pageantry, challenging societal norms about age and beauty. MUPh recognizes this as an opportunity to celebrate women from diverse age groups, much like the pageant has shattered stereotypes over the years," organizers of the MUPh beauty pageant said in a statement released on Sept. 14. "It's essential to emphasize that despite this change in age requirements, the judging criteria for Miss Universe Philippines will remain stringent and comprehensive. Contestants will still be evaluated based on their overall presentation, advocacy, intellect, and other factors that contribute to what makes a Miss Universe.
"This process is even more critical now that MUPh has transitioned to accepting winners and appointees from cities and provinces exclusively through its Accredited Partners Program.
