Is there a way to shut this down without creating a scene?

I never know how to respond in these situations. I am aware that the other person views this as an attempt at humor, and I do not wish to cause a scene. But it does make me feel uncomfortable, especially in the elevator scenario.A proper response to someone attempting to grab something of yours in an elevator is, “Get your hands off my property.” Miss Manners might throw in a “please” in recognition of the jocose intention.
Although I prefer to be respectful and follow tradition when attending a funeral , I don’t see any problem with people just dressing neatly, perhaps wearing subdued colors other than black, especially at a wake.: Funerals have lightened up considerably, and not only in the matter of dress codes.
