MIRI: The Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Sarawak Bumiputra Entrepreneurs Council will be taking part in a second Covid-19 awareness campaign, says mayor Adam Yii.
"We need to undertake another round of awareness-raising to prevent complacency among the general population. The Covid-19 threat is still there and the dangers of a second wave is very real, ” he said."We need to undertake another publicity campaign to tell the people they cannot let their guard down.
Yii said Miri and Sarawak, in general, suffered badly in terms of business and industry due to the Covid-19 pandemic over the past two months or so and added that a second wave of infections would be devastating. Touching on Hari Raya Aidilfitri, he said that people are celebrating this year under difficult circumstances.
"Society at large is still battling Covid-19 and though the pandemic seems to have subsided by a big extent in Sarawak, we are still worried about infections. We must be extra cautious, so there must be no mass gatherings or social visits, ” said Yii.Sarawak has seen 17 Covid-19 deaths and more than 550 positive infections to date.
