Miramax promotes Thomas Zadra to executive VP, operations:
In his new role, Zadra will oversee operations, including strategic planning, the day-to-day motion picture business, partner management and human resources, as he reports to Miramax CEO Bill Block. Zadra, most recently executive vp of business and legal affairs, rejoined Miramax last year after beginning his career there 20 years ago.
In the intervening years, he held senior posts at Studio8, Relativity, Yahoo! and Netflix. "Since joining us last year, Thom quickly became a key player at the company. He is very well respected inside and outside the company. I rely on his hard work, knowledge and judgment every day,” CEO Block said in a statement. Late last year, ViacomCBS closed a $375 million deal to take a 49 percent stake in Miramax, which boasts 700-plus titles in its library, including 70 Oscar winners like. Since 2016, Miramax has been controlled by the Doha-based BeIN Media Group. In addition, Viacom's Paramount Pictures struck an exclusive, long-term distribution agreement for Miramax's film library and an exclusive, long-term first-look agreement allowing Paramount to develop, produce, finance and distribute new film and TV projects based on Miramax's IP. “Between Bill doubling down on production and our partnership with Paramount it is an invigorating time for Miramax. I’m excited for the opportunity to work with Bill and our talented executive team in this new role, as we chart the continued growth and success of the company,” Zadra added in his own statement.
