Padres prospect Jackson Merrill hits third homer at Fort Wayne; Both Brandon Dixon and Tim Lopes up to seven homers with El Paso, most in the system
The Padres’ top prospect homered during a three-hit game in high Single-A Fort Wayne’sat Lake County on Sunday, his most productive day yet since he was sidelined nearly a week with an undisclosed illness.
The home run was the third of the young season for Merrill, who is .212/.266/.388 with nine RBIS, seven walks and 13 strikeouts in 23 games.Better yet, Merrill is hitting .304/.320/.522 in six games in May after struggling in a typical cold start to the season in Fort Wayne, Ind. hit his second homer and center fielder walked five while allowing one run in four innings in the start. saved his second game with one run in three innings.
