Table-topping Brisbane will rest 10 of their stars on Thursday night, despite 200,000 reasons to try and beat Melbourne and win the minor premiership.
Kevin Walters has decided to rest a whopping 10 Broncos stars – including fullback Reece Walsh – with the $200,000 minor premiership prizemoney on offer appealing but nothing compared to what is at stake in the coming weeks according to the NRL coach of the year contender.
“Because we’ve had such a good season, this also allows us to reward some players who haven’t had the opportunity to play in the NRL. “We’re grateful and appreciative of where we sit right now, but there’s a lot of water to flow under the bridge just yet – the good thing is we have a boat, and we’re in the water.”Walsh hobbled around on his knee late in the game against Canberra on Saturday, but could have played against the Storm, but Walters said it made sense to rest him – especially given he was also coming off his first Origin campaign.
