The premier expressed his condolences to Ticehurst’s family over the 28-year-old’s alleged murder, saying that their “anger and heartbreak” was shared by the wider community.
NSW Premier Chris Minns has asked for an urgent briefing into the circumstances leading up to the alleged murder of Forbes woman Molly Ticehurst, saying it was “completely legitimate” to question why the alleged killer had been granted bail just weeks ago.
Billings had been released on bail just 15 days before the murder following an arrest on April 5. He had been charged with three counts of sexual intercourse without consent, four counts of stalking and harassment, two counts of damaging or destroying property and one count of animal cruelty. During a press conference on Tuesday morning, Minns said he had Tony Ticehurst’s comments and said that the “heartbreak and anger he felt will be shared by everyone in NSW today, and it will be devastating for the town”.
Minns said Daley was reviewing the transcript of the bail hearing and would report back to cabinet later on Tuesday.
