The recall impacts"Make it Mini Appliances,""Make it Mini Food" and"Make it Mini Lifestyle" toy sets. Most consist of a sphere and resin materials used to build the miniature items, like a peanut butter jar or milk container. In addition to the risk of injury, the resins contain levels of acrylates, a type of chemical, that are higher than what's allowed in children's products under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act.
The CPSC said there have been 26 incidents reported involving the products, including skin burns, respiratory irritation and one consumer whose asthma was triggered. Once the resins cure and are no longer in liquid form, they are no longer hazardous. The toys were sold from October 2022 through June 2024 at Target, Walmart, Family Dollar, Dollar General, ALDI, Hobby Lobby, Amazon and more.
The toys had a disposable wrapper that says “MGA’s Miniverse” on a yellow burst background and “Make It Appliances,” or “Make It Mini Food,” in bright pink or “Make It Mini Lifestyle” in a lighter pink. The sets packaged in spheres could also be sold as bundles of multiple toys, and the “Kitchen,” “Multipack,”"All You Can Eat,” “Ice Cream Social” and “Pizza Party” sets come in dedicated boxes with similar labeling without spheres.
