THE raid by the Enforcement Directorate of India’s central government on the home of a Tamil Nadu state minister and his subsequent arrest has sent shockwaves throughout the state.
Malaysia Nanban reported that the state government, led by the DMK party, had condemned the arrest, characterising it as an intimidation tactic by the Narendra Modi-led BJP government, which has long sought to influence south Indian politics.
Prior to the arrest, his house, office and even the homes of his extended family members were raided by income tax officials.
