PETALING JAYA: The government will make the decision whether to postpone Friday prayers due to the Covid-19 outbreak within the next “two to three hours”, Malaysiakini reported.

PETALING JAYA: The government will make the decision whether to postpone Friday prayers due to the Covid-19 outbreak within the next “two to three hours”,Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of religious affairs Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri's said his ministry would consult the matter with the Health Ministry first, before deciding if Friday prayers are to be replaced with Zohor prayers at home.

“I agree but we need a little more time to iron this out, ” he was quoted by the news portal at around 9.15am on Friday. An official statement on the decision will be issued by noon, before the start of Friday prayers today, added Dr Zulkifli. Earlier Friday, the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail decreed that Friday prayers across the state today are to be replaced by Zohor prayers at home.
