Trains currently pass by communities along the Shore Road without stopping due to a lack of halts
The Infrastructure Minister has provided an update on the future of additional train stations in North Belfast .
In response to Mr Brett's query, the Minister said the All-Island Strategic Rail Review will explore the case for developing new stations in Belfast, but the location of these has not yet been considered. "Once the Review is published, further work will be required to prioritise the recommendations and then to undertake feasibility studies and develop business cases to support any future investment decisions, including those in relation to the development of any new rail halts along the existing network."
In 2021, former Ulster Unionist councillor Julie-Anne Corr-Johnston told Belfast Live the lack of train services in North Belfast was a "missed opportunity" for the area and city as a whole.
