The shake follows a much larger seismic event that occurred almost a week ago.
Two small earthquakes struck the town of El Cerrito on Monday at approximately 1:16 p.m., as reported by earthquake notification app LastQuake.
The first was 2.21 and the second was 2.27 on the Richter scale. The epicenters were in an open space called the Hillside Natural Area in El Cerrito.— Ryan D. Edwards October 31, 2022Shaking was localized to Albany and El Cerrito in the East Bay, sources reported, and was not detected by the U.S. Geological Survey due to its size — a"significant quake" is considered any seismic activity over 2.5 magnitude, according to the USGS.
No damage was reported in El Cerrito, but several sources"moved away from windows" out of an abundance of caution.
