City hosts second annual Holi event.

A woman celebrates Holi, the Hindu festival of colors, at Cardoza Park in Milpitas on Saturday. The second annual festival was hosted by Milpitas Recreation and Community Services. Attendees showered each other with gulal, colorful powder to symbolize the triumph of good over evil and the breakdown of social barriers.

The Hike Queens Buddies and other community groups danced to the sound of the drums and enjoyed the traditional Thandai drink made with milk, almonds, fennel seeds, poppy seeds, cardamom, saffron and rose. Children split their time between covering their family and friends with colored powder and enjoying the activity stations.
