One of the most serious threats comes from a severe extreme cold warning in effect for parts of Idaho. Dangerously low wind chills pose a significant risk to residents, with officials warning that frostbite could develop on exposed skin within 30 minutes. New York City can expect a brief warm spell before temperatures drop again. Highs will reach 38°F on Tuesday, climbing to at least 45°F by Wednesday, but then plunging by the end of the week.Millions of Americans have been advised to minimize outdoor activities due to air stagnation advisories in effect today. Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Montana are under these advisories, issued Monday, with some expected to last until Friday morning.
