Before his trip to College Station at Bush’s invitation, Gorbachev had spent a lot of time in the U.S., where, after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, he might have been more popular than he was back home.. Said a Fletcher’s corny dog tasted like a fried sausage. It wasn’t clear if he intended it as a compliment.
