The Seahawks coach did not hold back, believing the Seattle is capable of winning a title with Geno at QB.
Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald has heard the comments, and is not on board with fan theory. When it comes to the future of quarterback Geno Smith, Macdonald was crystal clear in an interview with FOX-13’s Aaron Levine: “He’s our quarterback.” Levine flat out asked coach Macdonald if he expects Geno Smith to be the quarterback next year. Coach said “heck yeah.” Geno Smith’s status is clearly a question that has come from outside the organization.
A couple of Pro Bowlers just praised Smith for his toughness and perseverance. Coach Macdonald later win on to double-down on his comments, saying “we can win a championship with Geno Smith.” Speculation on Smith’s standing with the team has been predictably volatile, with many fans declaring he’s simply not enough, and a couple reporters even wondering if he’d be traded outright to the Las Vegas Raiders to play with Pete Carroll. Mostly Raider guys, to be honest.
