Mighty Morphin Power Rangers returns to commemorate the franchise's 30th anniversary with the upcoming film Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always. An American adaptation of Japan's long-running Super Sentai series, the Power Rangers have seen many incarnations over the years as numerous teams of Rangers have fought major threats to Earth.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Now, Netflix has released a trailer for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, a film bringing back old cast members from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to take on a mechanical version of Rita. The trailer reveals that Rita has killed Trini Kwan, the original Yellow Ranger, and plots to travel back in time to kill the Power Rangers before Zordon gave them their powers. David Yost and Walter Jones appear to be the leading roles, playing Blue Ranger Billy Cranston and Black Ranger Zack Taylor respectively.
The end of the trailer also reveals the original Dinozords and Megazord, underscoring how the threat from Rita this time around will be just as dangerous as before. However, the addition of a mechanical-looking Rita appears to harken back to Power Rangers Zeo's Machine Empire, tying in the later seasons of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
While the special appears to be focused on the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team, its status as a 30th-anniversary film means there's still plenty of room for it to pay tribute to other Power Rangers teams. It's likely that the film will act as a tribute to the franchise as a whole, even if familiar figures from other Power Rangers series don't appear.
