One of Texas’s most influential figures is staying out of the state’s most-watched Republican primary. Despite becoming a frequent presence in national political debates, Elon Musk has not endorsed any of the three major GOP contenders in the Texas Senate race — a notable absence given how eagerly the candidates have courted him.
All three Republicans have praised Musk publicly, but none more than Representative Wesley Hunt, who has repeatedly highlighted Musk’s support for his policy positions. Musk has interacted with Hunt on X several times in recent months, including a retweet last week, and Hunt even suggested in a fundraising email that he had Musk’s backing, using the subject line: “Elon agrees with Wesley Hunt.” But Musk has not endorsed anyone, an unusual restraint for a figure who has weighed in on a wide range of political issues and candidates. His decision to stay silent has added another layer of intrigue to a race already defined by high spending, sharp ideological divides, and national attention.
