Middletown WWII veteran to receive proper burial after more than 80 years in France

Lieutenant Dan Corson was a United States Air Force pilot in 1942 when German soldiers shot down his B-17 aircraft.

Corson's nephew, also named Dan Corson, handed over his uncle's archives to the Middletown Historical Society in 2005. From letters to photos, there are many pieces of Lieutenant Corson's life housed within the historical society .

Over in France, a museum had a propeller from Corson's aircraft. Corson's nephew requested it be transferred to Middletown when the museum would eventually close. That and other parts of the lieutenant's plane are also included in the historical society's display. "It’s a real statement of support for that generation that stepped up when they needed to," Ashworth said.
