September is ' Hunger Action Month ,' a nationwide effort to raise awareness about hunger across the country and to inspire action.is focused on ensuring those in need across Central Ohio don't go without.
For volunteers with the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, the work is non-stop. Jacques Angelino delivers groceries to those unable to reach food banks. "There was a problem that a lot of people didn't realize how big it was. I didn't realize how big it was, how many people can't access a pantry," Angelino told ABC 6.
"One of the things we see is there are a lot of challenges with families. They're having rising housing costs, medical costs, daycare costs that's a lot and then when you get to the grocery store, you just don't have enough to get those essentials to feed your family," McCarthy said.
