Researchers discover mysterious source of 'heartbeat-like' radio bursts in a solar fare njit NatureComms

of the two sources, both at an optically-thick frequency 3.4 GHz and an optically-thin frequency 8.4 GHz, increases and decreases repeatedly and in phase, presenting an evident quasi-periodicity and high relation to each other. Furthermore, the temporal evolution of is also found to be approximately synchronous with that of the time derivative of SXR flux, with a time lag of about 13 s . Wavelet analysis provides the periodicity of these curves.

4 GHz, a confident period appears in the range of about 10–20 s between about 21:55 UT and about 21:56 UT; while the period of about 30–60 s appears confidently only in the weak sources from about 21:54 to 21:57 UT . Similarly, the time derivative of SXR flux also presents a period of about 10–20 s around 21:54 UT as well as between about 21:55 UT and about 21:56 UT.

Microbiome-mediated fructose depletion restricts murine gut colonization by vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus - Nature CommunicationsMicrobiome-mediated fructose depletion restricts murine gut colonization by vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus - Nature CommunicationsVancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) represents a major threat for patients’ health. Here, using a mouse model, the authors show that specific commensals restrict VRE gut colonization through depletion of fructose, a nutrient source that boosts VRE growth in vivo.

Tripterygium wilfordii cytochrome P450s catalyze the methyl shift and epoxidations in the biosynthesis of triptonide - Nature CommunicationsTripterygium wilfordii cytochrome P450s catalyze the methyl shift and epoxidations in the biosynthesis of triptonide - Nature CommunicationsHow triptonide is made in the medicinal plant Tripterygium wilfordii is largely unknown. Here, the authors report the identification and characterization of a suite of cytochrome P450s and show their function in catalyzing the formation of triptonide from miltriadiene in tobacco and baker’s yeast.
