A widespread Microsoft outage disrupted Outlook, Teams and Microsoft 365 services Thursday, affecting tens of thousands of users as engineers worked to restore systems.
Microsoft said Thursday that a major outage disrupted its Microsoft 365 services, leaving tens of thousands of users unable to access email, files and online meetings. The problems, which began early Thursday afternoon, affected core platforms including Outlook, Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft 365 products, according to user reports and the company.
“We're investigating a potential issue impacting multiple Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook, Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Purview. Further information can be found in the admin center under MO1221364,“ the Microsoft 365 status account posted on X just after 2:30 p.m. ET. Tracking site DownDetector logged more than 45,000 reports tied to Microsoft 365 and about 40,000 linked to Outlook as the outage spread across business communities. Microsoft said it had identified an issue within part of its North American service infrastructure and was working to restore normal traffic, but provided no timeline for a full fix. The Microsoft logo and lettering can be seen on the Microsoft Deutschland GmbH headquarters building in Parkstadt Schwabing in Munich, Germany. This is a breaking news story. Updates to follow.
