I cover all manner of console and PC games, but if it’s about looting or shooting, I’m definitely there. If I’m watching something, it’s usually science fiction, horror or superheroic.
Microsoft recently announced that it was bringing Xbox Game Pass to Amazon Fire Sticks, and now, they’ve crafted a bundle that can accurately be described as Xbox-minus-the-Xbox., includes a white Xbox controller, an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and a free month of Game Pass Ultimate for new members. Those two hardware pieces are what you need to play games on your TV through streaming, and Game Pass Ultimate is what you need to…have any games.
At $80, that’s far less than the $300 Xbox Series S or $500 Series X. But unless I’m mistaken it’s currently $24 for a Fire TV Stick 4K and $44 for an Xbox controller on Amazon, which is $68 and…less than that bundle. So I guess the “free” month of Game Pass Ultimate is $10.$80 if you actually want to, you know, play games on the thing.
If you want this, I mean go for it, but you can literally buy the hardware itself for cheaper outside of this bundle. As ever, I don’t really have much faith in Microsoft’s current “Xbox everywhere” strategy because of things like this, but I guess we’ll see.Our community is about connecting people through open and thoughtful conversations.
