Xbox consoles are getting a new power option called Shutdown (energy saving), and Microsoft says that every two consoles switched to it saves as much carbon as planting a tree.
. The Redmond company has now announced yet another new initiative for their Xbox consoles, which will see gamers get ‘carbon aware’ game downloads and updates, making the Xbox the first carbon aware console according to Microsoft.
This feature will be called Shutdown , and is currently already available to Xbox Insiders participants. However, Microsoft did add that they will be rolling it out to all Xbox gamers soon. This will come via a one-time update that is already being made available to more and more users. This update will tweak your power settings too, reducing power consumption when it’s not in use only; this means that it should not affect performance and gameplay when you’re using it.
