Micro has introduced the Microlino Spider, an open-roofed quadricycle designed as a stylish alternative to traditional electric carts. Reminiscent of classic models like the Isetta, the Spider features removable roof and side panels for easy access. A canvas roof panel offers shade, complementing the wooden steering wheel and matching wood panels on the sills. While officially a concept, Micro aims to bring the Spider to the US market after adapting it to local regulations. The company envisions it as a contender for personal transportation in neighborhoods, similar to golf carts, and a rival to models like the Moke Electric and Fiat Topolino.
Micro has shown a new open-roofed version of its Micro lino quadricycle, intended to serve as a more characterful replacement for traditional electric carts. Named the Spider, it is effectively the reborn Isetta with its roof and side panels removed for easy access. A canvas roof panel is offered for shade , echoing similarly-conceived classics such as the Citroën Mehari, Fiat 500 Jolly and Mini Moke.
It said that similar vehicles are allowed to drive on “most roadways with a speed limit of 35mph or less” in the States. Micro chairman Wim Ouboter said: “Americans don’t just drive large cars. In fact, the U.S. is the world’s biggest market for golf carts, where they’re often used for personal transport within neighborhoods. That’s exactly why we created the Microlino Spider.
