Singing to the crowd of thousands gathered in Times Square and the millions watching from home, the country star also delivered a rendition of John Lennon’s “Imagine” from his 1971 album of the same name. In 2021, Guyton became the first Black solo female musician to receive a Grammy nomination in the country music category for her track “Black Like Me.” The artist released her second album, , Joseph Hudak wrote that with the new LP, the artist “continues to blaze trails and live up to her promise, delivering a collection of songs that effortlessly take her into her dance-pop era,” while adding: “In an era that many are hoping will be defined by joy, Guyton is providing the soundtrack.
