The teacher allegedly put the note in his own classroom.

HAZEL PARK, MI – A Michigan teacher is facing charges after allegedly planting a bomb threat note in his classroom to get a day off, police said.

The note was found on Thursday, Feb. 2, in the Hazel Park Junior High School classroom of Paul Jacobs, 40, of Livonia,Police initially thought Jacobs saw the note but failed to report it. The building was searched by officers and K9 units Thursday night, and no explosives were discovered, the report said. Now they believe Jacobs placed the note himself with the intention of classes being canceled.

Jacobs is charged with making an intentional threat of an act of violence against a school, employees or students, which is a one-year misdemeanor. He’s due back in court on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
