EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State men's basketball found itself in another hole it had to dig itself out of on Tuesday when the visiting Samford Bulldogs took it to the Spartans from start to finish.
Michigan State responded well, and after taking the lead, would never look back. But Samford kept fighting. It was a good test for a Spartan team that will now get ready to head to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational, where it will look to win the tournament for just the second time ever. Izzo: "Wow. Those of you that I did talk to, a few of you, I didn't lie to you. That game was everything I thought it would be and a little bit more. I felt at the end that it was an incredible team win. I mean, everybody got a rebound -- I think, except Kur . I was mad at him for not getting one in 9 seconds. But we had different heroes, and our crowd was one of them. ... I thought our crowd, when Coen made a couple of those plays, really got us back in it, too.
