A Michigan man's $300,000 Rolls Royce Dawn convertible was stolen during transit from Florida, highlighting a growing trend of car theft during transportation.
A Michigan man's $300,000 Rolls Royce Dawn convertible was never delivered after it was picked up for transport from Florida. Nader Eldamouni, who owns other luxury vehicles like a Lamborghini, Rolls Royce Phantom, and Mercedes G-Class, discovered the car was missing after it was scheduled to be shipped 1,300 miles to his home near Detroit.
He believes thieves stole the car after it was picked up on January 17th, suspecting that scammers are exploiting the transport process to steal exotic vehicles. Eldamouni contacted WSVN 7News Miami after seeing a report on the channel about a similar case involving a Ferrari stolen during transit.Last summer, a criminal in Florida hacked into the computer system of Dealer's Choice Auto Transport, a delivery company, allowing them to view delivery schedules, driver contact information, and crucially, change the destination addresses of multiple luxury cars. The hacker, pretending to be the receiving party, contacted drivers and provided them with altered information about the delivery location. This resulted in the theft of a 2024 Mercedes GLS600 Maybach worth around $200,000 and a $400,000 Rolls Royce Cullinan SUV. The transport company's CEO, Steven Yariv, stated that the criminal had full access to the driver's portal and exploited their knowledge of the transported vehicles to carry out the thefts. This recent incident involving Eldamouni's Rolls Royce highlights the growing threat of car theft during transport. As the demand for luxury vehicles increases, so does the vulnerability of these high-value assets during transit
