Crazy Rich Asians star Michelle Yeoh is opening up about why the sequel hasn't been announced after the massive success of the first one.

Michelle Yeoh is ready to explain why there haven't been any announcements about the Crazy Rich Asians sequel. Based on the novel by Kevin Kwan, Crazy Rich Asians follows the story of Rachel Chu as she meets her boyfriend's parents and discovers he's from an incredibly rich family. The project was a massive success, totaling $238 million at the box office on a budget of $30 million. Unfortunately, there hasn't been too much word on its upcoming sequel.

"They have been talking about it. I think sometimes it's hard, you know, when you have such a big success, and you go 'How do I better? And that's the biggest chip on the shoulder, is like, 'Do I make it better? Bigger? This? That? I think they are trying to find the right story. Kevin Kwan is endless with his stories."

Will There Ever Be A Crazy Rich Asians Sequel? Crazy Rich Asians doesn't have the same problem as Yeoh's other major hit, Everything Everywhere All At Once, which was always made to be a one-shot movie and will not be receiving any follow-up. Kwan has already written two sequel novels, China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems. With that storyline already mapped out for Crazy Rich Asians 2, it should be simple to turn that into a sequel.
