Michael Murphy has been appointed the Northern Territory's new police commissioner, almost five months after he began acting in the role.
Mr Chalker had been the NT police commissioner since 2019.
Jamie Chalker's retirement ended weeks of speculation and uncertainty about his future in the role, after reports emerged that the government had asked him to resign. Commissioner Murphy joined NT Police in 1997, rising to become a superintendent in 2008 and commander in 2011.
