The Las Vegas Raiders’ second-round draft pick, Michael Mayer has yet to be featured much in the offense. Is Aidan O’Connell’s first start the day that changes?
Updated October 01, 2023 11:09 AMThere has been much hype and expectation around rookie tight end Michael Mayer as he was arguably the best tight end in last year's NFL Draft. He was drafted by a team and coach who is known to value tight ends.
Mayer though, is more of an unknown in the NFL, as he has only played three games. While he has yet to have a breakout game, Mayer's talent is so undeniable that it seems to only be a matter of time before he does so. Through his first NFL offseason, training camp and first three games, Mayer admits he has had a learning curve. Mayer keeps things in perspective, as he understands a rookie needing time to learn is par for the course in the NFL.
"My focus is really just coming in, trying to be the best person I can be and the best player I can be. That's kind of where I've been the first three games. Obviously, I think things are going to start turning around."
