The former Health Secretary said he would 'respect the confidentiality' of the standards committee which is choosing the sanction against him.

Michael Matheson has said that he won't resign as an MSP after he was found to have broken Holyrood's ethics rules.

Matheson originally claimed not to know how he had racked up the £11,000 cost during a family holiday in Morocco. But his initial response would have led to the taxpayer footing the bill and he was also accused of lying to journalists. Matheson had previously been absent from parliament for six weeks as he was "unwell and unable to work".
