Beetlejuice 2 is reusing a great villain strategy.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The reasons behind Tim Burton’s interest in making Beetlejuice 2 hint at how big Michael Keaton’s role will actually be, seemingly copying the formula that made the original movie a $75 million box office hit. Considering the iconic gothic filmmaker hasn’t directed a sequel to one of his movies since 1992’s Batman Returns, the fact that Tim Burton is finally making Beetlejuice 2 after 35 years is a welcome surprise.
While Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice arguably remains the most iconic part of the movie’s legacy, having smaller screen time in Beetlejuice 2 would actually be faithful to the original film. Michael Keaton surprisingly only appeared in approximately 17 minutes of the movie's 92-minute runtime, making the recently deceased Maitland couple and the living Deetz family the main on-screen priority until Beetlejuice's chaotic ending.
