Michael Fassbender is in talks to join the next feature from The Brutalist director Brady Corbet, rumoured to be called The Origin of the World

Speaking in late 2025, he said that it would be an X-rated movie that took place mostly in the 1970s.
“The film spans from the 19th century into the present day — it’s just predominantly focused on the ’70s. The film is really, really genre-defying,” he said. It’s also reportedly being shot the using very rare eight-perf 65mm cameras. A two-time Oscar nominee and four-time BAFTA nominee, Fassbender is currently in Cannes with the South Korean sci-fi thriller “Hope” by Na Hong-jin, starring alongside Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton and Alicia Vikander.
He most recently starred in Steven Soderbergh’s espionage thriller “Black Bag” and Irish hit “Kneecap” on the big screen and the Paramount+ spy series “The Agency: Central Intelligence. ” This film will mark Corbet’s fourth feature as a director following “The Childhood of a Leader,” “Vox Lux,” and “The Brutalist. ” He also produced last year’s “The Testament of Ann Lee,” directed by his partner Mona Fastvold, with whom he also co-wrote most of his films.
